Core Elements of
Jesus Union Gatherings

Jesus Union gatherings are significant time commitments, they normally last several hours. If the group approaches 15-20 consistent participants, consider dividing into two groups.

1. INTIMATE COMMUNITY

  • To begin: highly informal, unstructured, and free flowing gathering

  • Open to anyone willing to take the Jesus Union Pledge

  • Conducted any place

  • Activities include eating, drinking, playing games, talking, prayer, counseling, group exploration and exhortation, and encouragement

II. SPIRITUAL FORMATION

  • Second: intentional focus on Jesus

  • Activities include prayer, counseling, exploring truth, teaching, and encouraging

  • Can include singing, guided meditations, and watching videos

III. ORGANIZING FOR GOOD

  • To conclude: research and determine the needs and opportunities in your community and the world

  • Plan for effective community and global service

  • Organize assignments and volunteer activities according to gifts and abilities

  • Collect and administer funds for the project(s)

  • This part of the meeting should follow an agenda, and someone should take minutes while the group discusses opportunities for action
