Core Elements of
Jesus Union Gatherings
Jesus Union gatherings are significant time commitments, they normally last several hours. If the group approaches 15-20 consistent participants, consider dividing into two groups.
1. INTIMATE COMMUNITY
-
To begin: highly informal, unstructured, and free flowing gathering
-
Open to anyone willing to take the Jesus Union Pledge
-
Conducted any place
-
Activities include eating, drinking, playing games, talking, prayer, counseling, group exploration and exhortation, and encouragement
II. SPIRITUAL FORMATION
-
Second: intentional focus on Jesus
-
Activities include prayer, counseling, exploring truth, teaching, and encouraging
-
Can include singing, guided meditations, and watching videos
III. ORGANIZING FOR GOOD
-
To conclude: research and determine the needs and opportunities in your community and the world
-
Plan for effective community and global service
-
Organize assignments and volunteer activities according to gifts and abilities
-
Collect and administer funds for the project(s)
-
This part of the meeting should follow an agenda, and someone should take minutes while the group discusses opportunities for action
